Has anyone tried getting all the bar owners together in your immediate area to share info?

not sure what the point would be. Why would you want to share any information with the competition? This would be kinda like a group of football coaches together to share their playbooks.

I've made a point to meet the bar owners in my area. We are in a rural area so its within about a 20 mile radius or so. I 'clicked' with a few but most were aloof towards me. I talk shop regularly with the ones that have become professional friends. We discuss promotion ideas, management techniques, supplier info, and in some cases actually compare numbers. We help each other out with references, filling stock shortages, etc. We sometimes carpool for a shopping trip to the restaurant supply houses or liquor distributors which are about 50 miles away. Being new to the business I have learned a lot from them, but they have also learned from me.

we have a couple of bar associations with local chapters. I have bar owners that come into my place, we chat and share advice, being different types if bars makes it a little easier to do this. I have a number of friends that own bars again they are different types and most are not close to each other so it works

I agree with Mixpro, it wouldn't make much sense. There are Tavern Owner Associations in most states. The TOA's work as a watch dog group. They make sure that the legislature and other law agencies don't enact laws that disturb their businesses.

We have tried to do promotions that involve numerous bars within a few block area. It always turns into a circle jerk. They all want to be the ONE bar that gets all of the business. If they don’t get their way, they pout and stomp their feet.
