I am currently an Arborist and have owned my biz since I was 17 (8yrs), I am now in the process of opening my "dream" bar in my small home town. It’s going to be a small alehouse with a great atmosphere and some higher end brew. I have been doing my homework for this bar for the last 2-3 yrs and I finally feel comfortable enough to take that next step and open it. Our only "real" bar went out of business due to lease issues so I feel this is the perfect time to make some moves.

Now on to the topic at hand....As I read through the forum I see soooooooo many posts of people in my same situation looking to open their venue. I see one big problem though 95% of these people are just looking for handouts on how you guys run your bars/nightclubs/etc. If you really aspire to own a bar/nightclub do your own homework go talk to the town/city boards, sit down with the liquor authority months in advance, tell the police/fire depts. what you are trying to do.... but don’t ask someone here "how do I run a bar?" "How do I open my bar?" ask questions like "I having trouble doing X does anyone have some suggestions?" at least then people know you are taking the initiative and not wasting anyone’s time.

Don’t hate me! haha just my $0.02

you hit it right on the head ! do your own homework. there are many many people here who will bend over backwards to help out but we will not do it for you. great to see you doing "homework".
