whats good in a club

I am currently looking for any information about how you would reccomend I use colours, layout when designing my club project for school what features to have etc.

study a lil bit on what colors promote what type of feeling emotion or activity and build upon a theme and use relevent colors in that color scheme. to start.....

Also keep in mind your traffic flow situation. How far is the bar from the entrance?? Is there a mass amount of furniture/chairs etc in between the entrance and bar. I know when i get to a venue like alot of people my first objective is to get a drink. Also know that people will make a judgement of your venue after about only 5mins of being there.
First Impressions last i think is the saying.
