I'm looking at opening a pizzeria in the Orlando area in Florida, nothing big, maybe 1500 sqft. and wanted to add beer and wine. I will be serving, hot/cold sandwiches/pizza/salads/pasta and deserts and wanted to see if it's a good idea to sell draft beer and wine. I will have a brick oven and wanted to have a custom made bar made around the oven. I will have an open kitchen, so people can watch the pizza being made. Any ideas would be great. Thank You

Guys,

I'm not selling equipment and don't want to buy an exsisting business. I want to open a new location in the Orlando area and wanted to know if having beer and wine will be benificial.
Thank You

There are a few small pizza places here that sell slices and don't offer beer & wine. They are usually located in strip malls and survive off the shoppers, or they are located near high schools and survive off the school kids.

All the bigger pizza/sandwich places offer beer and wine. A local deli lost their beer permit (they had minors serving), and folded about three months later.

Think about this: a group of people at work decide to go out for lunch. Somebody suggests your place. If one person in the group says, "no, I want to get a beer," then the whole group goes someplace else.

Without knowing more about your specific location and market, I'd have to say beer & wine are a must.

Yes, beer and wine will be profitable.

 No I am not really a drunken lush! I use to be, but I don't drink anymore, and you know what, my life has gotten worse. Drinking is good for you if you can keep it up without dying from it. But anyway, you know I was thinking of the same thing in my area. I am not really a Bartender, and the Bar Buss is not really my cup of tea, but this building I found is really nice, but in a lousy location for a resturant. And since I am no expert in the bar Buss, I really don't know if it is a good location for a Bar. It use to be a Bar, but the owner up and died, and left it to his son. His son is now selling it, and I have thought about buying it, I to thought of the Beer and Pizza (Brickoven) thing. Because there are no Brickoven Pizzas in town, but then again, I wonder if the Pizza would be any better than regular Electric oven cooked pizza. The only way to tell I guess would be to go eat at a Brickoven place and find out. But anyhow, if I were you I might try researching on the Internet. There is a ZA's Pizza and wine place that may be a franchise. Take a look at them. There are plenty of Brickoven, Pubs you can use as a Business Model. There is one thing you want to think about, ask yourself this. What is a Franchise. If you look at Franchises, what do you see? They are all the same. I mean a Dominoes looks like every other Dominoes. A Pizza Hut looks like every other Pizza Hut, and UPS truck drivers look like all other UPS Truck Drivers. If you go into this, make your place look like a Franchise. Well, that is some pretty straight forward thinking from this old Drunken Lush! But you know, I kind of had an idea to, that if the Bar or Pub didn't work out, you could allways sell Pizza, and Vice-a-Versa. One more thing, the fellow selling his place jumped right on you to buy it. So I might ask him. Why is he selling. Is his Business doing lousy.
