When I first got the idea of starting a club there was nobody doing a teen club at the time. Now a established club, announced that they are going to do teen nights on Saturdays. He got backing from the city and got in the paper. I haven't been there yet but plan to check it out. Nobody has said anything about it, so I don't know if it's cool or not. Do you think I should still open mine & do some different stuff? I know the club is a pretty popular club with 18 & up. He has a good location downtown. I just don't know that if I open one right after he did if I will get big #'s of peeps. Please give your opinion & anything I could do to stand out. Thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in NO way an expert...but I will give you my amateur opinions.

1. Only YOU can decide if you should open a club. Unfortunately, this is something that no one can answer for you.

2. Do the research, demographics, cost projections, market trends, etc., etc., etc. and let the figures tell you if it is a good investment.

3. If after you have all of the research done - and your decision IS to open a club then be serious about it and do it !!

4. As far as "the other guys" - there are always going to be "the other guys". This guy you mention is doing it now. Even if he hadn't and you did, you can bet several others would want to open if they see you raking em in. You just have to make yours, not just different, but better.

5. Additionally, this guy you mention is opening one as you read this - you have not even started. By the time you get your research done, plans together, equipment bought, etc. you are looking at a minimum of several months. The good thing is that by then, his customers may be ready for something different. When you first open, some people will come just to see what the place is like, some because they are looking for something different. - Who knows, you might just change your place into the new place to be and his the old....

I think that as long as you make an environment better, why would they go to the other guy? Just remember that you are in the entertainment business - not just the dance club business. Keep them entertained and they will be happy. You may want to change things frequently to give customers something new - so you do not become "the same old thing". Something as simple as changing the positioning of your lights costs only time, but creates a new light show....

Anyway - sorry this was so long - but I do hope it helps some.

Hey, don't appoligize for it being long! Thanks for advice, that's a good idea to change stuff all the time to keep it different so nothing will be expected. Thanks again, your'e the only one to reply.
