I am currently considering opening an under 21 club in my area and there isn't much research or information on this venue. I have been woking with info on nightclubs-danceclubs. There is a need for this in my area because there aren't many places for teens to go - no youth groups or CYOs. Just bowling, movies & the mall. Is there any good place for info for me or should I continue on the path I am on?

Sue:

We understand your frustration. Most Teen Clubs have various advantages and disadvantages. The biggest one being the age range. Let say that you allow the demo from 15 to 20! As maturity goes, there's a huge difference in maturity level between a fifteen year old and a twenty year old. I know that I wouldn't want my naive sixteen year old daughter hanging around with a bunch of nineteen and twenty year old young men. If you tightened the demo to say 13 to 17, you might be OK.

There is a club in my market that does the eighteen and over thing. It's a mess. There are numerous underage kids consuming alcohol and getting in trouble with the older adults. I think these are some of the reasons that you don't see a lot of the teen clubs out there. The teen scene has had it's share of trial and tribulations for as long as I can remember and I'm old.

I don't know how much money the teens have available in your market?

On the other hand, I posted another answer to the same question earlier this month. Try searching for it and see the other side of the coin.

Don't let me take the wind out of your sails. Never say never.
