Don't take this personal, but I think that this is too much. It's bad enough that television and radio are exposing kids to sex, drugs, and violence at alarming levels. But now, companies are starting to "program" them for alcohol comsumption, too...

I know... I understand that they're already exposed to it, but I think that non-alcoholic jello shooters are the cherry on top of the cake. I'm not condemning you because it's a business decision, but I just have to shake my head.

All of this crap is thrown at kids on top of divorce and "fitting in" at school; and then society has the audacity to tell them NOT to smoke, have sex before marriage, or do drugs.

Again, not condeming you... just voicing my thoughts on this.

True but if all teens waited untill they were of legal age to drink, wouldn't alot if not most of the people on here be out of business. Statistcs show that the older a person is at the first time of consumption decreases the chance of them being a regular drinker.

Not choosing sides, just playing devils advocate

I don't believe so at all. I'd love to see those statistics and who fostered them. Do you think that teens don't smoke just because tobacco companies are not allowed to advertise to teens? Of course not, they do it anyway.

I'm not intending that the liquor people deter teens from drinking - that's the parent's job- just not DIRECTLY influence minors to become fluent with adult trends. There's already too much of that.

The only people that would be out of business are people who shouldn't be in the business in the first place.

I see the monitary values of this type of promo, but it just bothers me a bit.

The Event Guy,

I do appreciate, and agree with most of what you are saying. I myself have a 15 year old son. I see the struggles he faces daily, as I remember struggling with them myself. Here is where I disagree with what you are stating:
First of all we are not 'pitching' an alcoholic beverage to anyone underage, not now nor have we ever done so. Jello itself has nothing to do with alcohol. These Kamikazi Energy Shooters have only Gelatin, Water, and Energy Drink.

I will respond on this further, later, however I guess I should leave well enough alone right now by agreeing with you on your statements, just disagreeing with you on the rationale on what we are attempting to do.

My apologies, Shotski I didn't mean to infer that you were promoting liquor to minors. My point was that the product itself is a subliminal reinforcement for drinking alcohol. The name itself is a standard name for an alcoholic "shot." Most people know what a Kamikaze is even at 15...especially at 15 because of the perceptions they get from MTV, the news, and especially the music they listen to on the radio. Kids know what this is... and therefore, are being pre-programmed. That's what the tobacco companies have done for decades...

Again, I can see the business side of this product, but -IMO- it walks a fine line of ethics.
