Are you thinking of a glass block bar?

Hey Visual Magic,
I think dfwbevslinger, is refferring to an actual Ice bar, like the one featured in Club Systems International Magazine (Augest 2001), where a club in Houston South Beach, had a bar with refridgerator lines within a Granite bar top, which when activated formed a big sheet of ice, right on the bar.
Its an awsome idea, and I would love to get the opportunity to check it out some time.

Hey AListEnt,
No I don`t unfortunetly, I have been looking for some pics on the net, but so far I haven`t been able to find any.
Although I found their webpage, at:
http://www.southbeachthenightclub.com/club_info/index.shtml
No pictures of the bar though.
Club Internationals online archives don`t go back to 2001, so unfortuently you can`t read it online.
Small note, the bar itself has a oak armrest with a black granite top. The Tops backhalf is stainless steel with half of that, containing the refridgerated lines in it.
Its a wicked Idea, although I don`t know on the moisture issue.
Hope this helps,

This is exactly what I am speaking of. I have googled, but with no luck. I also tried to archive the article from club systems but they only go back to 2002. Do you still have the article and if you do, does it mention any one that installs these?

No dfwbevslinger, Unfortunetly the article doesn`t mention about who installed the gear, it mentions the manufacture and model of the audio and lighting products they use, but nothing about the decor of the club itself.
I suppose you could email Charles Armstrong, and talk to the guy directly. His email is on their webpage
http://www.southbeachthenightclub.com/club_info/index.shtml.
Thats probably going to the best way to find, out.
Just let us know back here, I am curious about that system myself.

Soundguy,
Thanks for the lead. I sent him an email so we will see if they get back with us. Also, emailed a couple of other venues that I found that had them. I will keep you guys posted with any info I get.

There was a Sports Bar in Detroit, just across the street from the Tigers ball park that has a bar top of ice. They just used refrigerated lines under the bar top. Similar to what they do for an Ice Hockey surface.

There's a bar in Portland, OR called Henry's tavern that has about a three inch strip of ice running the length of the bar (it's a square bar, and runs on all sides) which is used to place your beer on to keep it cold while you're not drinking it.
Cheers!

Check out one of the originators of the ice bar top, Red Square. It's an upscale Russian vodka bar with private bottle ice chests and a vodka cooler with Lennin's head in it -beheaded from his statue, outside the bar in Mandalay Bay in Vegas. They have one in Miami and a new larger one in Atlantic City now. They even loan mink coats to have a shot in the freezer. And if you really want a cold drink, check out the Absolut ice hotel and bar in Stockholm, Sweden or the ice bar in Iceland! Funny, I don't think the Ice nightclub in Vegas has any similar features. Has anyone experienced the ice sculputures where you do shots by pouring down and chilling?
Good luck,
Michael Black
Michael,
You took the words right out of my mouth.. Red Square in Vegas has the icetop bar that the original poster described. Nice looking bar right next to rumjungle in the mandalay. Be sure to get their ice-cold dirty martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives. Amazing!
