Can someone either verify or tell me if I'm crazy?
If an average .75 liter well drink bottle averages $7.49 in my state, and one can pour 20.32 of 1.25 ounces per bottle, I see that equating to about $0.37 cents per drink, plus maybe 13 cents max for a mixer. Does 50 cents cost for an average well drink sound right?

Ahh, the fun of figuring out cost. What i have seen as the most important factor is this: 1. Perfect world pours never happen. 2. Spillage always happens. Cost is important if you are going to base bonuses and Retail Price on the cost %. If you are a neighberhood bar and want to compete, you will probably think that basing your pricing based on the competion is the way to go. As a general rule, I usually put my spirit cost at a figure that is based on either 1 1/2 oz. or 1 3/4 oz even though I pour 1.25 oz. This, I think gives you a closer determination of cost. Also Remember that Martinis, Bomber shots and Beers generally run a higher cost then say just a 'rum and coke'. The best way to truly get the exact cost is to implement a Inventory and Purchasing Tracking Sheet(excel or package bought) and use a plu's to ring up each individual Spirit or beer or wine. You will need to establish a Starting inventory and value of that inventory.
After all of this, and extremely detailed tracking you will still see your costs vary. I would suggest that you try to run an average cost on spirits 15% to 25%. Beer @ 30% - 35% and wine will average about 40%. These are cost percentages. Overall blend should be around 30%. These are just suggested Cost%, every bar and rest. have different operating exspenses to deal with and those need consideration too.
For what its worth,

Those are exactly the types of 'rules of thumb' from an experienced person that I was looking for. Thanks Prof!

What about orange, juice, roses lime, grenadine, tonic, soda, garnishes and other ingredients how do you factor that cost in the price drink?

The same way you factored in the price for the liquor.
