I have an oppurtunity to manage a small bar. The problem is I have no experience in the industry, and I only have two weeks to prepare. The owners are opening the place for fun, and are happy if they just break even. I have been offered the job because they know they can trust me and they know I can do it. Clientell isn't a problem

What I need help with is theft control and inventory. marketing and staffing isn't a problem either. Any advice on how to prepare myself for running back office operations.

These forums are filled with great info about the general business strategies. One think I might point out since your new to the industry, PADLOCK your beer, wine, and spirit storerooms. Have your bartenders keep all empties and pull one out of inventory when one empty one is given to you. I could fill this whole page with other tips but use that one for now.
