I was wondering what everyone's opinion was about starting up a nightclub by yourself. My partner informed me that I am going to do everything myself that he was not going to help because he is to busy. I am going to be doing the business plan and all the research and everthing else involved in starting our club. My question, is it possible to do this on your own and still be successful. Does anyone have any tips or comments to help me along on my journey. Thanks in advance

Doesn't sound like you've got much of a partner... why would you want to work with this person? He must be the bank roll, right?
Of course it's possible, but you need to know what you're doing in order to get it going, if not you're taking on a huge responsibility with someone else's money...

Hire a consultant. Plain and simple get someone who has managed successfully for several years to help ya out. I don't know your level of experience in the industry, but if your green, it can eat you alive. If you have enough experience you might pull it off, again, I don't know what you have done before. I do know working in a nightclub isn't just a job, it is a lifestyle. Long nights, little sleep. If your awake, your at the club. If your awake and not at the club, your worrying about the club. I'm just a security guy and thats how I live, especially when I am running security. I know its got to be worse when you own the club and every dollar spent is coming out of your pocket (or the clubs, which, in a way is still yours). Just my opinion. Others may differ. :) good luck.

Thanks for the support. I have never worked in the industry just a customer.
But it has been my dream to own one before I even got out of high school, it is just that life kind of happened fast, marriage, child, you know the usual.
I just know if I own my own club that I will enjoy going to work everyday. And life will be good. And I know it will not be easy, but I am ready to work hard for what I want.

I too am planning and have looked at places to open a night club alone. Like you K, I beleive I can do it....however, I'm trying to get my sister to come in with me on it. I've no experience in the bar/lounge field. I'm not even sure I have enough money to do this. But I'm certainly going to try! K are you planning to lease or buy?

I am not even sure yet, my husband wants me to take a few classes first, before I started thinking about a location.
