Can anyone suggest a way I can get an e-mail mailing list from the local colleges? I want to target the 21 and older students. Especially the grad students. Any help would be of some great use. Thanks

No offence film27 but I feel people may get annoyed if you acquired a mailing list and then sent promotional material unsolicited via email.

Do you have access to their local community event listing service? The webmaster of the college website may let you post a listing or come up with an alternative.

I do have accesss to community event propaganda but that does not work well around here. Most of the students do not take the time to read about the events. That is why I want to get the e-mail list. The community paper for most colleges have a readership of the young students. I am not looking or want that. My parties are getting visited by booze control and the fire marshal everyweek. All the clubs ae since the event in Rhode Island.

You may want to check your local laws. In many states it is illegal to send unsolicited email.

A somewhat easier idea. Why not just hire a coupple students, pay them $20 a run to either hit up all the cars(if commuting college) or slide a flyer under every dorm door(if a live in college) if you give the kid some VIP cards he can ussualy 'buy off' and RA's that might have a problem with it, and if its done in the parking lot(from first hand experiuence) they just tell you to scram.

I may be able to help you. My company helps bars build opt-in email marketing campaigns. We have found it to be very easy to build your lists in a short time. Contact me if I can help you.

Just to let you know SPAM mail is now a felony in some states & can have serious negative impacts like jail-time. OWCH! You know how much we all hate SPAM!

an opt-in list is not considered spam, and yes, spam should be a felony to bad it is nearly impossible to catch most of the spammers because they use idiot webmasters open rely's

There are a lot of companies out there who do knowingly partake in the sending of spam. Unfortunatley, Those individuals make it tough for anyone else doing legitimate email marketing and cloud the public's perception of what spam really is. As business owners, I would first suggest that you educate yourselves about what opt-in/permission based email marketing really about before passing judgement on the idea. Getting permission from people to send them emails about promotions or events is not spam. It is an avenue to build one-on-one relationships with customers that want to do it. Customer loyalty is the name of the game in the hospitality industry.

I am a grad student at a NYC school and we have many clubs at the school that often hold events at local establishments. You might look at the school's web site, pick a grad school..say business school, and look for clubs at that school. If you cant find it online then call the school asking about clubs. Find some and contact the clubs VP of events (or whatever they call it) and see if they would like to hold an event at your establishment. You can do it on an off night such as Monday and give drink deals, open bar for a cover, whatever. it will introduce people to your club and maybe create some revenue for an off night. Us grad students are always looking for a night out.

This is my subject:

I found that the best way to get e mails is to obviously use visually stimulating male and females to get everyones attention. I have the frats and serorities on lock since they are a specialized group that already parties!!! You can go to meetings and tell them you want to get e mails, give them money off/vip/free admit/ etc... and have a few girls/guys collect everyones e mails. have them do it at class and tell everyone what its for....drinking and partying....very few people say NO.... even go as far as making the chicks tank tops and the guys t shirts...
