I recently stumbled upon an Aussie performer's mini-show at my regular nightclub and they gave me a CD upon entry.

I thought it was a good idea because everybody wins; I get a CD, the venue gets a bit of kudos and the performer's material gets more exposure.

Something to consider when negotiating DJ's or other performer's bookings for your venue. By the way, there was a small levy added to the door that would have gone towards the production cost.

yes, what about copyright laws? people get to antsy about copyright laws, fact is ive worked with many lables and most of them plain old just dont care when it comes down to it(in the USA) infact labels send me 4-6 copies of EVERY record they put out, in hopes that i will play it at my spot(large place) and expose it to the fickle teen market! the labels are way more worried about the millions of songs that are downloaded free each day

in this case, i assume it is all origianal material by the band, or songs they had licenced so they can give their CD away if they want to, they own the copyright

The performer's material was original and the CD was only 20 minutes long. Sophie Monk was the only performer on the CD and it's distributed by Warner Music Australia.

She also was present at the giveaway. That sounds ok, doesn't it?
