How would anyone suggest controlling the thug issue? Heres our story:

We have stopped any hard hip hop/rap music. The least we do is Black Eyed Peas, Mariah Carey. No "shoot the cops crap."

We have a security company (13 guys) working for us. They are mostly black guys. We have told them several times no thugs (corn rows, gold teeth, untucked shirts down to knees, no hats, no t-shirts with writing (we have a dress code). )

But the thugs are still getting in and starting to drive away the hot girls.

Any suggestions would help on how to get the thugs out and keep them out and not even letting them in the doors. Do we need another security company, a Door Host to pick and choose, etc?

Our club holds appox 1100 people, 3 sections including an outside upper deck.

thanks for anyones help! MOST APPRECIATED!!!!

I am far from being a club owner and know the ins and out of the industry but why now a dress code. Also, how is it that these "Thuggish Types" are allowed in? In my area the club bouncers/security are really good at filtering people that shouldn't be in out of the club.

Same as jsam76 i am far from being a club owner myself, but as a consumer and a customer it sounds as though you're doing everything pretty well in trying to get people out of your bar who you don't want in there in the first place. First of all i should say that im living in Aus and our hip hop scene is nothing compared to over your way. And our "thugs" are pretty much guys who have just had to much to drink and all of a sudden think they are gangsters.
But changing music would certainly be the first step i would have taken aswell to change your crowd.
Maybe you should be the person on the door assessing who and who should not get in.
Or even get every single bouncer in your establishment, sit them down and explain to them the importance from your perspective as to why these "thugs" shouldn't be in there. If they still don't get it, then maybe if their jobs got threatened to be terminated it may all of a sudden become clear to them who/shouldn't be in you club.

First I am black, 35 years old, and I Dj to those such people you mentioned. I am in the process of finding investors for my own nightclub. I live in Atlanta and I've seen a shift in music right now to that hard rap. Most " hip " clubbers like that music. One of the owners I play for hired me over the last guy partly because I can play that type of music but I am skilled enough to play other types of music with it to the same crowd then switch back to what they like throughout the night. It's not easy but having and paying for an experienced versatile Dj would be a start. And as I Dj I watch the crowd to determine when to change the music well before the point of a fight. Your security is very important as well. If your security sits around enjoying the party, flirting, goofing off then they won't be in a position to prevent a small argurment from increasing to a club fight. Lastly the people you are sending away are more likely to spend $50 to enter to receive the "Baller treatment". So rather than keeping out money you should consider deticating a room in your club for that type of crowd or charging a higher admission for that type of clothing. It works here if you do it right. Good Luck
