I have recently been put in charge of creating a foam party theme night for the nightclub. The owner is very excited about the idea. I must admit, so am I. My problem is that I know little on the subject, except I have attended one and it was a blast. I am trying to locate information. The pro's and con's, machine cost, clean up, liability, locating the equiptment etc.. Any advice or info. would be greatly apprectiated.

We hosted 4 foam parties in the last 2 years. They were huge. Very fun and very successful, until the last one when the novelty seemed to wear off.
First, you need a concrete and steel building. The foam is moist and will warp or rot wood and drywall. Second, it requires a way to enclose the foam. You don't want the foam all over your bar, just on the dance floor. There is a large initial investment in plywood and plastic sheeting to control the foam, but it can be reused.
You will need to cover your lighting and video monitors to keep moisture out as well.
Our attorney wrote a one page liabilty release for each guest to sign. The release basically frees the club of any liabilty from slips, falls, or damage to clothing or your body from the foam.
No one could enter the club without signing the release. Our inurance carrier was OK with this approach.
The parties were great but seem to have a year to year and a half shelf life. There are professional promoters who own the equipment, a large fan that blows foam, that charge around $2000 per event.

I have done a number of foam partys, which were organised through 3rd party promotors, who in there price, have insurance against anything happening to customers (or staff).

All the foam partys I have done have been amazing nights, and casued no damage to anything.

The type of foam they use at the moment, is damp, but thats all really, so things will get damp but not web.

I will be having 4 next year, between march and october, as its too cold to have damp people running about in the winter months.

With all the plastic you would have to buy I don't know if it would be worth it. My walls are drywall. I would have to cover ALL the walls w/plastic, and then if the plastic got tore???

We hosted a foam party a year ago and it was so successful that we bought our own machine. We have held four this year already. We have done the parties inside and out on our deck. We have never had any problems or damage. They have been nothing but successful. We actually have a model that we hire to help get people in the spirit of the foam. The foam is wet on the floor as time goes on but not wet when you walk through it. It is a great time. Good Luck.

where are you located??

Personnaly ive been doing foam party all the summer (1 to 3 per week), and it does a lot of water on the floor. People likes it 100%, but you need to take care of a lot of things.

Im using the original foam machine of foamdudes, but we had to do a lot of modifications on it to avoid flow of water...

You are better to be ready to use a big shop vac, with a squeejee to get out the water during or after the show. :)

An important things is also the equipment you use... Some people likes foam cannon (i mean by cannon the one who throw foam likes 15 to 25 feets away...) . I dont recommend you that because you would do a lot of **** all over the bar (including walls, bars, lights, robots, sounds equipments...). I recommand you to use a foam cannon, the one who do a fall of foam, directly under the machine... That will do an accumulation of foam on the dance floor!! Thats the best.

You also need a nice foam concentrate, not only the cheaper bubble stuff in your local store. Those kind of concentrate will cause a sticky and crappy foam (you would have to fear the return of burn or broke clothes of guests...) You are better to use a real foam concentrate, specifically made for foam party! We used the foam dudes concentrate before, but it was too $$$ to be profitable, so we made with a chemist our own foam concentrate. With the foamdudes one, we needed about more than the double of the quantity for the triple of the price, instead of using our concentrate. And finally, it does more foam and it cause no broken clothes, no respiration problems... (less chemicals!)

The best would be to engage an external promoter to do the foam party, instead of buy a foam machine, building your foam pit (plastic, post, or cotton), protect your electrical plug, your subs (we use black felt cloth), install the setup, and the cleaning!!! Promoters normally takes care of these things.

To give you an idea of price, we are doing all the setup with decor (installation, decor, clean-up during the show and after, cover potential electric problems and subs), with 2 hostesses, 1 DJ, 2 operators-entertainers. Only for 1200$. But i dont think youll be able to find better price for this setup with US promoters, they are doing the total for at least 1600, 2000, or 2500$.

Enjoy your foam party!! :)
