I was interested in oprning an old school kind of night club. I remember hearing about clubs that actually had live music and tables that actually had table clothes. Real food not bar food. I like the big nightclubs but I like intimate feeling that a small nightclub gives. Great food, decor, and music. I know that it is expensive to keep a cook and have a house band but I think that is something that is desperately needed in my area. I have talked to dozens of people who alsoo wish that there was a place like this in the Akron, Ohio area. What does anyone think of this? Is it practical? Is it doable? What do you think the start up would be?

I am from Akron, OH and I remember when there were places just like you mentioned. But you have to remember Akron people are creatures of habit and they very seldom step out of what they know. My parents used to run a nightclub in Akron called Chanell and it was very popular I don't think there has been a place like it since. I would do alot of market research to make sure that is what is needed. You will have to pull that crowd out of the Al-Kaf, Helping Hand, Elks, B&J Lounge, American Legion, VFW. Try to give them a clean and quality atmosphere and limit your hip hop and that's the way you can control your clientele but make no mistake you will need the younger crowd. So I would suggest that you have an early program for the older crowd, and move to more of an R&B fill later in the evening. I can go on forever so I hope you the best.

Sounds like a good idea however eventually you will need a younger crowd to keep the place going like Trussell said ! You may need close to 300k or better to start up. You want to create a unique modern looking place with OLD SCHOOL VALUES. If you need any help in start-up, marketing, advertising and or entertainment-please contact me.
Best Wishes-
