Okay, I realize at this time I'm no where near ready to get into this buisness, so please don't tell me that.

So, what do you all think of an open air dance club..

Land a few miles off campus, 18 and up, no bar. Simple parking, a wall, raised platform for a dj and all the stereo equipment. Only open during warm months on Thurs, Fri, and Sat.

Other then liscencing, building the dance floor, and attracting a responsible crowd I don't see this being a huge effort. My best friends is a DJ and one of my other friends is bouncer for another club. Costs should be extremely low. I already have a good sized generator. I just need some more experienced staff. I'm not so sure what to do about the restroom situation.

I realize theres a lot more to being sucessful in this buisness than I know but I had the idea in my head and just want some feedback.

If i get a bunch of thumbs up then I guess I may go talk to a lawyer about saftey/liscencing and see if I could afford to take these risks.

Thanks, Cameron

Hey Cam,

Good idea, I had something similar and am in very similar thoughts to you. My good friend is a top class DJ, another friend is a bouncer and so has other "bouncer" friends - I do alot of web/graphic design and promotions for firms etc.

We are all from 20-24 ages. 3 of us.

Open air is good but how you going to sort out how people will come in and out? Like will there be a main entrance? What will stop people from finding like a little hole in the "tent" or "marquee" - that's the problem with open air, otherwise you'll have to have shit loads of security.

I'm with my friend, going around some places in my town, London, and finding out prices for booking out an area, just the venue for one night. I don't want to get involved in catering and shit, just charge for entry and make a kick ass party that people will remember and throwing in "attactions" such as bikin contests, live singing etc to get people interested and do some serious promoting.

yeah, my only concern is we are a little young. So alcohol is out of the question. I don't want to get in over my head by any means. We are all 19-20 and full time students. I thought about this and I'm just going to build walls around the entire thing.

One question is vandalism during closed hours. I guess i would have to put of a decent fence around the entire place which is going to probably cost a lot of money.

One of the frats at my school pulled off almost exactly what I want to do not long ago. They didnt get it liscensed though, no dance floor, not that loud a DJ and probably the whole thing was illegal. However it worked out perfectly for them.

Yea man that is sweet! I would consider that seriously but in London now, it is seriously cold in the nights and also over here, the open green spaces, they are government properties and they closes gates at certain times and shit so it wouldn't work - we'd have to get permission and then a big deal would be made out of it with regards to sound levels etc.

I think you should follow in the footsteps of this guy who did the ones you posted pics of.

People hear music, see lights and they'll come to see what's going on.

But your money you make will solely be coming from your drinks sales in something like that
