I have worked security at 21+ venues as well as all ages venues, and they seem to have relativley same size acts as far as far as number of patrons are concerned. I'm wondering what are some of the deciding factors in touring bands choosing venues to play. The manager at the 21+ club I work at says the the band does not get any money from the bar so why wouldn't they play at an all ages venue that can hold more people?
thanks for any help.

i have worked in live music venue's for about 15 years and there are many desiding factors that determin who play's where.
1. what crowd does the band draw ? if they draw a over 21 drinking crowd, why would they play where their fans can't drink or smoke? the venue won't sell many tickets.
2. the bands do not always want to play the biggest venue. some bands like the "intimate" feel sometimes.we have beck playing at one our venues next week that only holds 200 people.
