what are your thoughts about ATL these days ?

well i consider ATL a great market for the following reasons:
ATL is not a coastal city so the activities are kind of limited so the city is putting a big effort into bringing tourists and people around to have fun. Ive been living in the city for 6 years and you can see the changes.
ATL is the only city in the US that has the biggest number of foreign consulates. That means, we have become a multicultural city and that brings a need for all types of entertainment. Midtown and Downtown are being upscaled to a "Rodeo Drive" atmosphere but many venues are falling behind and not keeping up with renovations.
ATL has a lot of potential but i think we need to open up the doors for all cultures. I still see the city very "sectorized" targeting certain crowds only.
If you target all the crowds....means more $$$$ for the venues and more people feeling the belong to the city.
Thats my humble opinion.

Just to put my 2 cents in.
I was down in ATL for event on Saturday and being in the business I like to go see what everyone else is doing. Anyway, I went to Tongue & Groove which was okay. Nothing special, talked with the GM and the place is 6k sq.ft. and holds about 250. It had a nice crowd but like I said, nothing special.
The event I was at was at Justin's and that was nice but not really a club.
My opinion is Atlanta was blowing up about 5 years ago. There are still some development going on and there are about 60 clubs down there. They still have 4 million people and the scene is good so in certain places there were lines to get in the door. Nothing crazy like in Vegas or Miami but it was okay.
I guess if anything is HOT and is new you will get some business for a little while but obviously that will not keep you in the club forever.
Just thought I would throw that in there!

It's been a while since I was in Atlanta. All I can remember is...........
Peachtree.......... everywhere!!!!!!!! Drive, Street, Lane, Ave. Blvd. etc!!!!
Marta........ Great way to get around!!! (especially when you get lost on all those friggin' "peachtree" named roads!!)
International Blvd. (tourist spot with all the trendy eating joints).
thats about it.

what are the three(3) top spots in Atlanta now ?
The top 3 that i consider right now are: Compound, 11-50 (now under another name), and Shout is doing pretty good

all the clubs in the peachtree-lenox area are moving to another place because the city is developing a new commercial area that is going to turn out to be like a "Rodeo Drive" so you can pay 500.00 dollars for a tie and buy a 700square FT apartment for 1 mil dollars. Good or bad? i dont know but those venues already have plans for moving since they make good money. some will not survive i suppose

ok i went to Fever. Really nice place. Underground floor has a great display of lights and lasers. the level floor has good seating. What really frustrated me was the dj they had for the colombian party. Omg! he is supposed to be good but there was no sense for mixing. it was just one song after the other no matter bpm! people complain about the dj a lot. i dont know if he was not familiar with the equipment but he messed up frequently when using fx on the song. anyway i dont know if the guy is going to play every night for the latin crowd but he needs some skills bad! the djs from the underground were good though. nice place and people.

Hello Everyone,
I just found this website and it looks very informative, I appreciate any and all responses.Anyways, I am currently the head promoter, pseudo marketing director for a restaurant/lounge in Atlanta right off i-85 and seconds from Atlanta's most affluent private university.WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN INVESTOR TO ALLOW US TO TAKE OUR CLUB TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!
I have been promoting here (I will not say the name, email me if you want to talk) for the last two years and developed a great business relationship with the current owners. They want to expand the business and bring me on board as a partner/marketing director and the "face" of the club.
With that said, we are looking for a $200,000 investment to completely renovate, re-name, re-staff, re-market and re-launch the entire club/restaurant. The beauty of our business is that it is relatively low overhead becuase we are licensed as a restaurant, and we do food sales. Basically, we are going to be a "clubstaurant" club - restaurant. These are very common in Miami evident through Tantra, as they are open for dinner from 5-10, then from 10-4 they have a promoter driven event with a $20 cover and one of the cities hottest
Currently, the venue is grossing about $40k per month with expenses being at around $17k (rent is $7k, payroll, electric, inventory, etc), though with the renovation and new branding, we will be able to make deals with bigger and more reputable promoters to build events that are packed on a weekly basis among other things. After renovation, I am looking to gross a minimum of $80-$100k per month, via dinner business and tapas sales during events, hookah sales (will be available during select events and with dinner daily from 5-10pm, and bar sales. I plan on implementing the use of IN-HOUSE PROMOTIONS (myself, been promoting my ass off for years and am very well networked within the business), as well as the most successful promoters in Atlanta to keep the club open 5 nights per week. I will be working out deal with promoters such as split door , split ent. cost, take all door but maintain high bar guarantee, percentage of bar, etc.. I would be aiming to do $3500 in bar sales every night we are open on both floors. I have some very specific details set with some popular ATL promoters that will be working on my venue and are aniticipating its opening.
It seems like everyone is pretty informative and critical on this site, so let me know what you think fellas, dont hold anything back I don't take anything personally! If anyone has any SERIOUS interest and actually has the money to faciliate this deal to be part of what will soon be known as
**************AN ATLANTA ENTERTAINMENT INSTITUTION*********
then e-mail me @ JBAindustries@gmail.com and I can respond to you with the official "INVESTOR INTEREST PACKET" and other information upon request.
Thank you,
-J
