What do you mean by a program with a persons picture. Like if you had membership cards when you swipe their card it will show their picture?

Yeah, Micro$oft's "Access" program will do that.

more of a customer relationship databas
keep track of who comes when, how often, special days...comments about them
and yes access will do it, but it has to be programmed (which I can do), but before i go through that much trouble, I would create it in a SQL database with a web front end interface

Profitmax has a database already created, but their code is encrypted and won't let you tweek it to how you may like it. We've since created one using File Maker that works pretty good for us.

many ways this can be done, create your own if you know how or purchase the software.
You can use membership plastic cards with a mag swipe on the back that members swipe in a card reader upon entry but costs of the cards can be expensive but i am sure if you dig around you can find a good card producer, only issue i see with this is members have to remember to bring the card with them.
the second route is via ID scanning every one carrys a photo driving license so why not use this as the members card? also with the right database behind it you can get a card reader that will read the info on the card and copy that into your database so no more manual membership joining forms.
I am currently building this option as this looks the best way around ;)
you can also do finger print readers so people scan there fingers only thing at the moment is not many people would like to scan there prints me for one i would not do this to get in a bar as only the police can hold me finger print details but i am sure in time we will come around to this idea ;)
spend some time on google and you will find loads of companys who can help "id membership cards" will get the mag cards up and "id scanning" will get the second option up.
perhaps in time when i have finished my project i can post some info on what i did but thats a few months off yet due to other projects in the works ;)

yeah - -im looking to buy someone elses time...i don't want to spend months developing it unless i absolutely have too
for me...i am going the fingerprin route...its dirt cheap...plus people here already do it to get into theme parks, pay at certain convenience/grocery stores and since I am focusing on teens..many do it to pay for lunch at school...eventually biometrics will be STANDARD everywhere in USA
ID scanning is not really enough...im not looking to verify their identity, as much as keep track of them for customer service, safety and marketing purposes/

well thats very true what you say just in the uk its still not taken up by all,
with regards to the id scanning i would say that its the only way you can get true details of the person with out loads of admin work, new members scan the id card the info is populated into the database scan time is 3-4 seconds and no manual input of data :)
(well depending on how you create the system)
i suppose after the first join up you could add a finger point reader, just that with people having to provider details they dont all ways tell the truth with an id card say driving license at least the info will be as good as it can be with out driving round to check there house out lol
which ever route you decide to go please keep us posted would be intrested to see what you do ;) :)

That is the way to go. There is some software out there like this. I am looking up what I use...

i have not managed to see the link posted yet due to it blocked by the firewall but once i get home i will have a look and try and explain it its possible with the producted mentioned by mixpro ;)
but i would say you only need to add a field to a database that every time a card is scanned it adds a number to the field (in basic terms  )
CLUB UNDER

you are on to something, but havent completely grasped the whole thing; well atleast the part that I came up with. My brother and I are currently looking for a venue in our immediate area to open an upscale club for ages 15-20..hence our name Club Under...
Like most of the teen posts the subject line is about fights, drugs, or hip hop music, or problems inside and such...what if I told you that you could identify the troublemakers and keep tabs on them... the idea I had was a "membership" idea..grab a POS system that is a cross between a restaurant and a gym club...you need the restaurant side for inventory control and sales for sodas, waters, energy drinks etc....but the real good part is the gym membership side...you have every customer take a picture the first time they come to your venue, this provides you an id card with with database capability....age, sex, name, history....and heres the kicker....are you ready?
since they need this card to get into the club, everytime there is an issue in the club or in the parking lot, you pull the card or get the name and now you can keep them out of the club, knowing the history...no card - no entry....but wait, theres more...
have each id card as a gift card setup....I am going to call mine Club Bucks...its like a prepaid calling card, just go online or make a phone call and use the credit card (or cash when you enter the club) to add money to the card....all money can be used for club cover or drinks or raffle tickets, whatever that is offered through the club...now you have just took away the need for a purse or bag since you dont have to carry money or wallet, all you need is your cell phone, keys, and Club Under Card....which means all bags and purses are checked in and tagged at front door...now not as many headaches about drugs and alcohol sneeking into club in purses or bags, weapons are already covered since we will have a walk through metal detector....
explained my idea for potential landlord (we are checking out builinding tomorrow to see if its right one) and he loved the idea about no alcohol and being able to keep the troublemakers out...i have checked on here, not all posts since there are quite a few, and I havent seen anyone else using this method...I am very excited about it and hope to put it to use come the first of the year...
I would love to dicsuss some other ideas with you further...have already completed business plan with breakeven analysis 1-3, and my brother (also my business partner) just got a BA in Business....also I have been in industry for over 10 years between bouncing and a DJ....I cant wait til we have funding and am able to finally put my ideas in motion...also have coached high school sports for over 5 years....
