I just caught up my monthly "ransom" to get my software "key" so I could keep using Business Plus Accounting (BPA) Restaurant Pro Software on my POS system that I purchased from BPA. (http://www.businessoftware.com/)

This has added up: $30.00 month x 24 mos = $720 so far for their "free" included software ($2,500 for the 1 station system)!

Now that I've gotten that off my chest....Anyone know of a good low (one time) cost POS Software solution? (The zero cost solutions I've seen look like the should pay us to use them).

I'm not sure about that "Retail Ice". Might work for a Teen Club. Kind of like a convenience store type pos.

yes it is designed for retail....but i learned a long time ago...inventory is inventory

so if price is an issue, get something and make it work for your needs.

There are many bars that use quickbooks (even before they had POS versions)

I remember quickbooks telling an owner it wasnt possible to use it for POS (1999)....I said buy it anyway, I will make it work.

I added cash draw, barcode scanner and reciept printer to a 1998 version of QB...anything can be done, if you just take the time to make it work for ya.

anyway, just thought I would throw this in, cuz it was cheap (so am I, so I know I will MAKE it work for me :))

Oh yeah....KUDOS to you for keeping books at all!

I can't tell you how many owners I run across (even with their place FOR SALE), that keep books on PAPER (in notebooks/ledgers) or do not keep any books at all!

My wife tried putting everything on the computer to facilitate her method of keeping books. It worked real well until last night when it crashed and everything was lost. I am trying to get her to take a computer class now so that this won't happen again. Neither of us knows much about these things.

More than likely it's not lost. Just misplaced. A good computer tech can get it back. Consult your yellow pages.

Look into Future POS. It's very stable and affordable with many, many features.

Has anyone used the software made by Splyce?

This is a local company in my area and I am interested to hear any of your opinions on it.
