I was wondering what the cost of a sprinkler system in the Worcester, MA area would cost for seating under 4,000SF? Any good contractors? Any to stay away from? Thanks.

Perhaps this is an obvious suggestion, call a contractor in your area and ask him/her/it for a bid. You might get some rough ideas from people on here, but to get a firm price, just get a bid done....or are you just speculating on a place and want only rough estimates? I am sure a contractor could tell you in a matter of minutes the rough estimate as well.

This normally is NOT a general contractor job. You need a fire suppression/sprinkler company that specializes in installing sprinkler systems. The main valves can be very expensive and then the labor to install all the piping is not cheap especially if it is not an easy retrofit and they do not have easy access. I have a pulled fire system out of a closed Baker's Square with some piping and heads and the main valves (one is over $2,000 new!) and meters. But, I don't know if they would use pulled equipment as their mark-up would be reduced. You would have to find the right guys to get that bill down. In Chicago, a medium size (about 5,000 sq ft) restaurant ran about $30,000 a decade ago to give you some idea, but it can vary widely. You will get reduced insurance rates and their may be some local city incentives so check into and consider that when reasoning the price. You will have greater peace of mind with the much added safety.

thank you Michael for that info. I didn't know that. The bar owner partitioned his area off to be just under 99 seting capacity to make sure he didn't need to get a sprinkler system. I would want to open that partition. I still haven't heard from any contractors as yet! I don't understand.
Thanks

hehehe, it is going to cost me about a grand just to get a couple of heads moved and a 8' piece shortened. there were a couple of clubs here that just did their space and spent about 75k each. i know another guy that is about to spend 250k to do his space. i should go into the sprinkler biz.
