Orginal music club

Has anyone ever opened a club with the live acts being mostly original? We are looking at a club that is closed. It had a good customer base that we expect will return. We would like to keep it the way it was but add music. Perhaps mostly acoustic. I play, record and write myself. I can appreciate the songwriter. I have all the equipment to fill the joint plus the ability to record the live acts so they can walk with a disk. Is it possible to build a club with musicians? This town has nothing like that as of current.
