HI,
My name is Cesar Moran I work a Planet DJ. Yes fog mashines do set off smoke alarms. Just be careful how you use it and where you use it. Low ceilings with sprinklers the fog mashine will activate the sprinklers. I don't think they make a fluid that will not activate the alarms. If you have any more questions please call or email me. 1-800-404-8230 cesarm@planetdj.com :)

Fluids are made that will NORMALLY not trigger fire detection. It depends on the type of system you have. Please contact me for details. I also have the fluids. Thanks....Brian (717) 859-4332.

If your fog machine is setting off your smoke alarms, you may
have a bigger problem than you think. Without further
knowledge of the system involved, I suspect the problem is not
about your fog machines, but of the type (photoelectric vs.
ionization) of smoke detectors installed.

But first I ask, smoke detectors on a night club floor? Who
the hell installed that system?

Talk to a security system professional, but I'm guessing they'll
switch you over to properly placed heat detectors, rather than
smoke detectors. Insurance companies are fine with them, and
your local fire department will appreciate the lack of false alarms.
The only thing I don't know is if your location has some bizarre
requirements for smoke, rather than properly located and
configured heat detectors. Your only other option is to switch to
a low particulate fog fluid, ban smoking, and never serve chili
to women.
