Hey guys, in the process of opening up a new bar and we will need about 10 flat-panel HD Tv's.

We have seen Vizio's popping up everywhere around here and I was suprised to see no threads mentioning the brand. I have 3 Vizios at home as well and they seem to be pretty good.

Anybody have luck with a specific brand that is not too expensive.

Are there any sources that sell Vizio or other brands at a discount for purchasing a large quantity?

We bought our Vizios for home from Costco, they have Vizio LCD now for $899 42". Is this the best deal we'll probably get?

Thanks!
Dave

Shoot me a PM.

I'm good friends with a wholesale distributor of electronics and I think the 42" plasmas are going for around $600 - $700.

If you're interested, PM me and I'll get you the contact info.

We have over 40 flat screens at www.SomewhereInAugusta.com

Vizio's work well and so do Samsung but whatever you install, you will need to have an internet box or a Direct TV box wired directly to each TV in order to give you the best signal and options to provide any show on any TV. Also, make sure you have power conditioners with surge protection built into the wall for looks and safety. Sams Club is awesome just becasue they are so easy to work with and if the TV does break, you simply take it back with minimal questions and receive a new one even up to a year later - try that anywhere else and they will start laughing. Even better, buy an extended warranty on one of the TV's that you purchase.

You may also wish to look into who is going to do your install and get it working the way you want. Often times, they have sources for getting the TV's at a reduced cost and they are still making profit and handling your install. At our location, the TV's are controlled through our POS system and we can change channels, switch from Direct TV to Comcast, etc. all via our terminals or our managers hand held unit which makes life a lot easier. We also have an IT room where all TV's are linked to so we don't have to have the comcast or direct tv boxes accessable to the public or in view and yet every tv can be set on different channels in HDTV vs. splitters at very little cost. Additionally, our sound system is connected through our main screen TV since we will never have more than one TV volume on at a time.

Good luck.

I have bought a large amount of Samsung 42'' Plasmas for my bar. I have had zero problems with any of them and the customers love them. Last time I bought a few, they were $900...they've probably come down a bit since then.

I have heard some good and plenty of bad about Vizio.

I say for the investment you are putting in, spend a tad extra and go for the proven brand, such as Samsung.

Peter, can you post the info here so that we can see the pricing?

SomehwereinAug - Your place looks great! I like the idea of controlling through the POS we may not need that with only 10 or so TV's and probably only 4 diff channels going at any given time but that sounds nice. What type of POS are you using and you are happy with it as far as all the other features go?

We are using FuturePos and are pleased with the services at each location. However, in my opinion, most POS systems are about the same so it really depends on your needs and budgets. The main priority in any POS system is good onsite instillation, service and support. Therefore, I would check with various local restaurants or bars and find out what they use, how they like their systems and how their support is and who provides it. Support is the key.
