Most clubs I go to are TOO hot. I am not exaggerating when I say that temperatures that I have experienced would have risen above 100F!!

One of the first things I do when I am clubbing is check out their Air Conditioning (there is a drought on here and it is summer) after I check out the staff, crowd and music.

I must admit, I don't usually care until I start sweating when I am NOT moving around.

It is false economy to save money by not running Air Conditioners (or Heaters for winter) but some clubs do this.

Oxygen in the AirCon is something I don't object too.

Most of the clubs that are in this business have sufficient HVAC systems. It's usually the older clubs that don't have an efficiently sized HVAC system in place to keep everyone cool. It also depends on how many heat producing appliances they have in the main club area. Under counter beer coolers will put out a lot of heat when there is a huge demand for cooling the product inside. The lighting on the dance floor also generates heat. Now throw in 400 plus gyrating, hot, sweaty bodies and you have a cooling demand that most HVAC systems can't handle.

On the other hand. Maybe the operator doesn't want to spend the extra money for the electricity that these units demand. If you are hot and sweaty, you normally drink more.

I don't think there is a single club in Wellington with air conditioning :D

Wait... I tell a lie... There is one, but it's more a lounge than a bar or a club, and it's only there to remove cigarette smoke.

Some of the clubs here get helluva hot - but seeing as though cover charges are rare on all but NYE, you can head outside for a breath of cold air every now and again.
