Hi everyone!

I have been lurking on here since October of last year reading and learning as much as I could. I purchased a place Jan of 07 and opened Jan 08. The place I purchased was an existing bar, vacant at the time. I didn't necessarily mean to get in the bar business, but couldn't pass up the real estate opportunity when this place came up for sale. As I researched it more and more I knew I could run a successful bar business in my area. Now, over a year and a half later, I'm doing well, but could be doing better. I hope I can squeeze some more knowledge from all the experts on here!

I'm in Waukegan, Illinois about 45 minutes north of Chicago.

Town population is about 90k or so.

We're a small place. Total sq footage is 2500. I forget the exact numbers, but the actual bar area is about 1800sq ft. Our capacity is 100 and we market ourselves more as a lounge than a bar. We're in a town with a population of 90k or so and there's easily 15 bars in town + another 2 or 3 clubs. Our target demo is mid 20's up to later 30's hispanic. We have a full liquor license (bar NOT club in Waukegan).

We usually pack our place Friday and Saturday nights, our bread and butter, but we're just now starting to push our weekdays a little harder.

We have a kitchen with a small menu (15 items or so) mainly sandwiches and small dishes.
