Hi
I've been reading some older posts on tracking inventory and using the registers to help do this in the same way we use the registers to track the money.
I've currently got our three tills programmed for each beer we sell and the well brands, and the premiums which we sell by the shot and by the bottle.
I don't have enough department buttons on the tills to program a separate one for each and every type of alcohol we stock (10 beers, 2 coolers, 28 spirits and liquors)
I haven't programmed the PLU's because it's been felt that they will take too long to punch in and it's harder for the 'tenders to remember them all!??
I'm definately starting to think that we have to track every product though so I'm looking for a way to do this with the PLU's and Dept. key's that makes the most sense. For example; if a drink has 3 or four different alcohols in it, and I program for each spirit - they would have to punch up to 8 keys to sell one drink! This doesn't seem right at all to me. Do I program for complete drinks or recipes so if someone asks for an Alabama Slammer for example there's a button for it?? But what if someone asks for a drink we don't have programmed??
We have a very good crew working for us and we have 20 years experience in security (so we have lots of cameras on the tills and they all know that) - but this part of the biz I don't know!!
Love this site and your magazine - please help!!
Thanks
