Hello! I have a restaurant and bar that has been operating in a mid-size Northern California town for about 10 years now. We are underway in getting the 2nd story finished out to be a 3300 sf nightclub/banquet/party space.

My question is this: Should we create a new name for the 2nd story venue or just continue normal operations with the new space as essentially an addition to the existing operation?

Pros and cons:
Creating a new name could create confusion as when we open the only access to the 2nd floor is through the exising restaurant/bar. This will be changed later when we have the cash to do it.

We plan on hosting many private functions in the space and giving it a "club" name may turn people off to the idea of using it for events such as receptions, banquets, company parties, etc....

On the other hand a new name could build excitement and curiosity to come and see the "new" space.

Any thoughts are most appreciated!

I would give it a new name, if your worried just dont make it too "clubby" of a name, there was a post with somebody looking for a second story bar name, might try a search for it.

try to hook some new name off the first one?? Example: Cain's Ballroom is famous for hosting people like Bob Wills back in the day. Their new smaller club area is called "Bob's".

you could call it ____lounge or____club on the second floor and name it after what the theme is.
