I am a Business Management major in college, and in one of my classes my group and I are required to develop a business plan for our final project. For our project we are hypothetically building a 9 level nightclub/strip club in Federal Heights (Denver) CO, and calling it 9 Levels of Heaven. So far we have the property we are building on, a cabaret license, liquor license, business license, our employees, and pretty much everything our professor said we absolutely had to have for our presentation. Our current problem is that we have no idea how much our start up costs will be. We know how much our land is, and how much the building will cost, but we have no idea how much we will be spending on everything else we have to do. If anyone could help us out with a breakdown of the costs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

well 1 i suggest you only doing 1 level not 9! This way if you search the site you will find some business plans already done for 1 level clubs!

It will be to hard for you to go find out how much it would cost to renovate 9 floors + bars, lines, washrooms, lighting, dj, poles, seating, liqour etc etc etc the list goes on and on.

Are you required to have food. If you are having cabaret I am asuming you are having dinner and a show. A medium size kitchen will cost you about $150,000 to $200,000. To give you an idea on cost of a new machines. A food processor would probably run $11,000. To put sound and TV's in around 5,000 sqaure feet to include installation, hardware will run between $14,000 to $20,000. This is for bare bones system. 42" commercial TV's no Crestron system. The reason for so many TV's is that you need to run all the games and have a couple for thos ewho don't want to watch the game. Seating_ Depending on chairs you can budget between $60 on up for standard chairs. Barstools I would base it on $100 on up. Lounge furnishing I would start at $500.00 and go up. Long couches if they are not made in a nillwork I would start at $1500.00 on up. Flooring can range it from $2.40 a square foot Stained concrete to $4.25 a sqaure foot for polished concrete. Carpet You need to start around $5.00 a sqaure foot to $40.00 a square foot. Bars I would conservatively estimate about $25,000 not $60,000 depending on bottle racks, ice makers, Storage, Coolers. A small bar would be around $16,000.
Printing is a huge part of your budget. Menus, Drink Specials etc. Advertising Print,TV, Radio and Website.

I would estimate around $150.00 to $325.00 a square foot for the building of the clubs.
1.625 mil per floor based on 5,000 Square feet at $325.00 sq. ft
$750,000 based on 5,000 Square feet at $150.00 sq.ft

I am basing this on complete Design, Engineers, Construction and Finish

Good Luck With your project

You are a business student. You should be researching that yourself. It is your job to know, right?!!!Brainstorm what you believe will be needed in your business to run it effectively and efficiently by using a full blueprint of your nightclub. After all, you are creating a nine level nightclub/bar experience. And have those areas designated for a purpose. Kitchen. Bar. Restroom. Office. Nightclub area. Inventory Storage. Employee lockerroom. Management offices. Janitorial. Maintenance equipment and storage. VIP room. Etcetera.

Start up costs are those costs incurred that is necessary to initiate and run your business for the first time. You have fees incurred to set up formation: business partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, and S-corporations. Your licenses. Lawyers fees. Accountants. ASCAP/BMI licenses.

I still say do a 1 floor business plan! You'll be spending way to much time doing a 9 floor nightclub. I think its way to insane to do such a plan which is highly unrealistic! Start small. When you start to big 99% of the times you will go down big as well. Just my two cents.

You'll find your costs etc a lot quicker with a 1 floor club then a 9 floor. You have to remember depending if your going to be changing each floor differently then theres different costs because your going to be changing materials such as paint etc. im going to assume you'll have 9 different djs as well. Take into a count that your operating expenses for an evening could be a lot more then your overal gross profit for that evening.

9 djs on average 300$ each = 2700
if that dj doesnt know anything about lighting then you'll also need a lighting person also depending on the type of lighting. You'll always need a lighting programmer if your going to either do it manual or preprogramed. DMX controllers software blah blah blah blah lol
