Basically I want to open an Arcade bar. Like a Dave and Busters/ Gameworks. I would be on a smaller level. It would have beer, liquor, and bar food. I would put it in a downtown/ close to a college area. The games would range from a pool table, to beer pong, pinball, darts, air hockey, and the newer type arcade games. I would also have rooms or an area for couches so people could play board games, cards, dominos, etc. I would have TV’s all around the place. I’m also thinking of having Xbox and PS3 tournaments during the week. I’m 25 and saved about 75k. I own my own contracting company. I work by myself and have never had employees. I’m going to start working at a bar a.s.a.p. so I can start learning the ways. I know this might be out of my league for now, but I want to at least have a plan and start it. What are the steps I need to take? And any suggestions would also be helpful?

My suggestion would to avoid a total aracde bar. You want people to buy drinks not stay stationary all night playing dominos. Also games take up alot of space. You want to design your place to have the maxium number of partrons that yu can get into your establishment. I would also research how many females are gamers. You want to establish your market and demographics. 21-25 25-30-30-40 etc. If your location can support it that is great. Dave and Buster's usually won't go into and area unless the area can support it.
Don't get me wrong games do bring in patrons. You just have to establish what kind of bar you are, what is the age you are trying to reach and make sure you have the support both in managers and employees to run it successfully. You need to have a 3-5 year plan. Alot of small business centers will be able to help you with that for free. Sometimes if you are near a college the marketing majors will use your business as a model and help you.
Good Luck
