Hey there guys and gals!

I'm brand new to this site and love it. I have now been on reading and posting for nearly 17 hours straight (with the exception of the occassional break to speak with mother nature, of course). What a great site!

I thought it would be a fun and quick little diversion to see if we can get every registered member to simply make a quick "Hello" post.

What do yah think? Whanna say hello to a newbie?

How about everyone share one things about their bar/restaurant/club that people might find interesting? Or Pick your single most valuable piece of advise and share it?

I'll start:
HELLO EVERYONE! My name is Daniel. I believe that the single most important thing to do when opening or operating a bar/restaurant is to write a complete Business Plan. It's worth the time and effort in the end.

The Mods may not like this, but I think it would be an interesting thing.

Cheers Everyone!
Daniel

My Name is Joel Pace and I am with Heffron Talent International / "The Comedy Zone" Comedy Clubs

We are the largest comedy booking agency in the country.
We also own and operate venues...so we know both sides of the business!

I agree with you on the opening of a new venue...a Complete Business plan! I have seen so many people try to fly by the seat of their pants only to crash and burn!

Give your customers the best experience possible without cheapening the product...it will go a long way.

Newbie BadMonkee,.....HI..How ya doin'???

My best advice I can give anyone...including my kids...Never, ever have sex with little animals...and if you do and get caught...well...It's just really not good for business..people just don't understand...especially in a small town... and they just don't forget !!

Take care, welcome to the site....just so you know..I'm not the official welcoming committee, they'll be along sometime next week.

Best of luck with your new venue,
Rick

Newbie Badmonkee...Hi...treat everyone as a guest. Most of my young male guests gives me a hug when coming in or leaving and some both times. I don't know what the probelm with the females are! LOL

Welcome Daniel,

I second what Steve says and add value as something very important,

Hey Barbara I get a whole lot of hugs from both men and women, took me years to change the culture of my bar from fists to hugs,

You must be a pretty female, smiles, even now in my bar strange pretty females get a somewhat cold treatment from my regular female customers, and a very warm approach from my male guests, I think its embedded into the genes, no one likes competition,

Allan.

whats up everybody?
i'm marty, i've been lurking around this board on and off for about 2-1/2 years or so. i can sum up probably the most valuable thing i learned by steve's quote.

i don't own a club or bar, but i work as a dj/promoter for EDM events in the northeast U.S.

mainly drum & bass.

i know a lot of what is discussed on this board is more mainstream oriented, but every bit of knowledge on here can be adapted to what ever music/venue you are trying to push.

this place really is great! :D

well Allen, at least you get hugs from both genders! I don't think I am pretty but I think it is the friendly motherly type. Of course, I am now going up to the regulars and ask for my hugs and after a while they just give me a hug without asking. some come to me with their problems and ask for some advice. My lord, I don't think I am a Dear Abby, but I give them support and they seem to like that.

Another important thing is to learn about the tax laws. I just found out by the seat of my pants about the liquor sales tax! LOL
