well i read all of the teen nightclub stories to help me with my new teen nightclub i am trying to start. But what i am doing now is writing up my business plan to see if it will be profitable or not. I have some questions that i know you guys can help me out with. The place i plan on renting can hold up to 400 people. We have 3,200 kids in the 4 local high schools. I hope you think that is good odds, im not sure what to think of it. But my main question is "How many security guards do i need?" I am pretty sure i can get a police officer to keep the parking lot safe so i don't have a problem with that. So if you guys could help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

Check the laws in your city. It may already be defined for you in legal terms. I know in my city you must obtain a Teen Club License and under terms for security it depends on your occupancy rate. The fire marshal will determine how many security personal you must have. I know under the section I was reading for my city it said there must be at least three, maybe more, depending on number of teens.

when i looked into it, it was pretty much the same as what gummyworms said. our law stated one officer patrolling the parking lot, one officer at the front door, and one bouncer for every 50 teens.

Well, if your planning on having max capacity then I would get at least a dozen or more for that many kids. Teens travel in packs more so then adults, so you need numbers when you deal with them. Also, if there is a problem EVERYONE wants to go see whats going on, which again requires more security. You need to remember that everyone that works a teen night should be considered security from the money taker to the person that pours soda. Have at least a couple girls on hand to help in girl situations and the girls bathroom.

In addition, even if you get a police officer in the parking lot your still going to want to be outside with a couple guys. Controlling the parking lot is crucial for preventing problems with a teen night.

Just curious, are you going to allow smoking? Do you have a dress code? What age groups are you going after? Do you have any entertainment besides a DJ?
