Just wondering how many used an attorney and who just filled out the app on their own? I have heard that one little mistake on the application and you can be delayed months--seems it may be good to get professional help--but i also imagine that could cost a pretty penny...
Interested in seeing people's opinions on this...The state would be New York (but not NYC), if that has any bearing?
Thanks!

I used an attorney for everything to do with the purchase of the bar. It wasn't that expensive. Good luck.
We also used an attorney that specialized in liquor licensing. He knew everyone and pushed our app thru faster. Like haven said, not that expensive and very worth it.

I am in California. I did it all myself, with some help from the seller's business broker. He only sells bars and restaurants so he was very familiar with the process, requirements and timelines. He basically made sure that I filed the appropriate docs before their deadlines.
The biggest hang up I ran into was due to the fact that I was separated from my husband but not yet officially divorced. The ABC ultimately did a background check on him too.....just in case we reconciled.
