Well... just did a major overhaul to part of my little college 'dive' (ghetto, lol) bar... still pretty shabby, but still making $$ and paying bills... that's why I'm always a *bit* uneasy whenever I do a project. Don't want to sink $$ into something that was making $$ in order to try and do better but in the end I mess up the 'ambiance' of the club/bar and don't have anything, lol... but anyway... my latest is pulling out the drop ceiling.

Quick rundown... my bar is 2 sides, pool tables on 1 side and the bar, followed by a dance floor, followed by the bathrooms, w/an exit to my back patio on the other side... there are 3 areas to cross back and forth between sides...

That being said (if you're not lost already) I try to keep the dancefloor side more of a 'party' side... I just pulled the drop ceiling that was from the edge of the dancefloor all the way back to the bathrooms... probably about 35 feet by 25 feet? Something like that... anyway, added 3 feet height on to my place. This gives me a whole new look as well as all new possibilities for decorations... going are my little 13 inch (serious... maybe 19, but I think 13) old school tv's and replacing them (tomorrow hopefully... places were sold out today, tax time, gonna check a few other spots tomorrow) will be 42" LCD...(1 in each back corner raised up high though now) I have 4 American DJ Dance Revo III's that will not be placed higher up... bought new drop down ceiling fans, etc, etc... small'ish' area, but would like to add some more 'zoom' to it, aka (I think) LIGHTING... can anyone give any suggestions to any laser stuff that's worked for you? Is it a waste? Right now like I said just have had 4 Dance Revo III's as well as some spinning balls on the dance floor itself, the kind you replace the bulbs in and all that. I'm thinking of possibly rope light for edging... and then was thinking maybe stick w/neon lights... but then saw LED neon that looks really nice but is PRICEY!!! (like $1500 a roll). Wouldn't mind maybe keeping budget to around 1,000 or under... that led neon is really sweet... but so pricey I just think it's out of my smalltown budget at the moment. Any suggestions? Anything work for you guys/gals?

Can you post some pictures so I can get a better feel for your lighting possibilities?

My first thought is to not install the LED neon, go with more of a DMX controlled show, help you understand that lasers mean fog or hazers which may change the "feel" of your place, and add LED fixtures so that your electrical needs will not have to be upgrades.

Thanks... I'll try to take some pics 2morrow hopefully... I appreciate the feedback. I currently 'just' have 4 Dance Revo III's (led) as well as some old school spinning balls... I do have 2 foggers in place right now that we've been running to accent the dance revo's... we're going to move them though to other areas I think now w/the raised ceiling. I'll have some pics up (hopefully) by Thursday. Thanks again!

Yes yes yes... I know... I need the pics up (my fault... still haven't taken them), but rather than spam up the board with a lot of posts I thought maybe I could just try and keep all (or most) of my stuff here... I was looking at lighting and found this led light bar at the following link:

http://www.wiedamark.com/colorbar39remotecontrollable-1-1-1.aspx

It seems a bit pricey though, but as I look at more it seems the prices vary greatly... I've seen these on ebay for around $150 and then here for $600, but they look different and I'm not quite sure (I'm actually pretty sure I'm NOT) that I'm comparing the same things. Anyone here have anythink like the light bar pictured in the link I posted?

Also I'm thinking I wouldn't mind having the stars on the ceiling... anyone do anything like that? I've seen a few projectors that seem to have that capability. Thanks again for reading guys (and gals).

a few questions, what colour is the roof?, if bare you might try a flat black on everything in the roof,(non reflective), a suggestion for lighting, you might want to check out a site called flashwear.com, they specialize in led lighting, might look into 24"-48" neon tubes, you can get it with a controller for a random sequence, not sure if you can use any of these thoughts, but if so good luck..

TriNorthLighting.com has the fiber optic star ceilings. You can even get shooting stars or fireworks! I purchased my neon rope from them - I felt their prices were good. Paying the electritian gets pricey though!

Get some chauvet colourstrips and control with a dmx controller.l have 5 around my bar it can do mood lighting ie slow colour changes to various sound activated dj lights and almost a strobe effect.Very good light for around $200.00 each. You can see them being used in myspace page at myspace/goldenrail.
