I bought a system as part of the total asset purchase (Aldello) I have never worked with it and would like to upgrade to Micros or Aloha when I can afford it. For now I either make it work or I store the hardware and open with elctronic regs. I can transfer license for less than 500.00 but the rub is that the credit card processing software is non-transferable and comes with a 2850.00 price tag. Cant do it at this time. I had an idea though I want to run by the forum to see what second opinions I can get.

Could I just use the POS software as is and set up credit card processing terminals next to the hardware? I would have to consolidate my numbers from the credit cards with the cash transactions of the POS but I think I am ok with that.

My main concern is that I want to be able to take orders and get my tickets to print in the kitchen plus have modifications to items, product mixes etc.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi there,

I am an Aldelo Channel Partner. I am trying to understand the pricing you have described. Are you saying that the entire total for the transfer and new EDC (Credit Card Processing) is $2850? How many stations do you have? Back Office? The price for the EDC by itself is $595.

Yeah, that shouldn't be an issue as long as it doesn't slow down the line ups too much.

I have a customer who just does credit cards seperately and has an ATM machine for cash and people who want to pay by debit card.

Works for them. Just stress the importance of getting the cards right, or you'll spend $3,000 worth of your extra time fixing mistakes and paying servers extra just to fix theirs.

Solutions gal......

When I called to transfer the license and the EDC what I was told by the sale department was that the license transfer its self was something like 450 give or take but the the EDC was 2850.00. They told me it was non-transferable and that I would have to purchase the software for EDC. The quote was for 6 stations. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Bell Ringer...

It seems to me that the person you spoke with didn't do a very good job of explaining the charges you were quoted. You have a 6 station system, which means you have 6 Aldelo Licenses', and you need an Aldelo EDC. I verified the price with Aldelo this morning and it is $2680.00.
$425 each for the first 2 licenses = $850.00
308.75 for the remaining 4 lic. = $1235.00
Aldelo EDC $595.00
Total $2680.00

Is the previous owner going to give you a bill of sale for the equipment? If not, then Aldelo will not transfer the licenses'. The previous owner can take the licenses and open a new business. The equipment is yours, we are strictly talking about the Aldelo software.

I hope this helps. Remember not to "shoot the messenger". Feel free to contact me if you need to discuss this further.

I have a bar in downtown Fort Lauderdale FL, and I use PointOS, and it was only $399. The credit card processing was free throught the terminal and there was no maintaince or tech support fees. I've never heard of $3000 for the credit card software, that seems weird to me.

You can try it out at www.pointos.com (http://www.pointos.com).

I'll assume you've been in the business of owning and operating bar(s) for some time, enough to gain the experience to help me understand how a $399 POS software program actually compares to what I am perceiving as over-priced crippled software from the "other" brands.

What is bothering me is none of them seem to support programmability, do not have open architecture and I cannot write and integrate software with any POS I have found --yet-- but I am still looking

Why don't you just post it on here and we'll all take a look and help break it down for you?

I'm curious.

On a side note though, what does this have to do with "transfer costs" as this post originally asked? I know I get off track sometimes (I'm not trying to be hypocritical here at all) but I think a rant would go in another section.

Either way, I'm still curious about your costs of your recent POS purchase.
