Its a new era and this year of 2009 is the first year in history TV manufacturers are selling product that supports the Internet Protocols (IP). This is also the worst year in history to by a new HDVT for the same reason because all HDTVs that support IP remain crippled and do not provide full support.

People like myself with 25+ years of business experience in architecture, IT, networking and software development know what we once knew as TV is never going to be the same again. In fact, we know the HDTV as a digital electronics product is going to change the same way the microcomputer has as a digital electronics product. We forecast by 2012 (three short years from now) anybody with the technical skills will be able to build a custom HDTV to function just about anyway they want the same way I and others have done for years with microcomputers to build our specialized servers, gaming or CAD machines networked with other digital devices within the company, across town or globally as the case may be.

Even mobile telephones have become "open source" at the hardware level and skilled techs can actually now build product that can make calls as some have done using digital photo frames.

That was a big clue friends, it is now possible to invest the outrageously huge sum of $150 to receive digital media in your club wirelessly. Am I getting through here hopefully?

This "digital broadcasting transition" we are all hearing so much about is in fact the "story behind the story" and is in fact about the facts the liars on your local TV stations are not talking about as they lie by ommission while smiling to you describing themselves as your "friends and neighbors at TV6" or whatever.

TV is all advertising or donor driven and they know ADVERTISING DOLLARS ARE MOVING TO "THE WEB" which as most of us understand utilizes various standardized IPs to send and receive digital media be it text, video, audio or some unique digital file format such as CAD drawings, pdf and so on.

***THE INTERNET IS DIGITAL BROADCASTING***

The digital microcomputer, the digital phone, the digital sign, the digital photo frame and yes, now the digital HDTV are all exactly the same thing inside the box. The only differentiator is their marketing form factor sold for some intended purpose. One capability has become common to all digital devices: THEY ALL NOW SUPPORT IP TO SEND AND RECEIVE DIGITAL MEDIA --OR-- WILL BE COMPELLED TO DO SO BY COMPETITIVE MARKETS.

What I'm trying really, really hard to get through to people is the fact that the IPS have become the new banking system through which all commercial transactions now flow. Even if some persons does not "see it" or does not "get it" does not change the facts.

The current HDTV as a product remains crippled as the manufacturers try to determine if they can continue to sell crippled trash or if they must in fact provide full support for IP. It is an indisputable fact that the microcomputing giants have made it possible for their "computers" to function as "TV" for ~$4 per unit cost to the quite numerous Dells and HPs of the world.

It is our belief the TV manufacturers have no place to go but full unhindered support for IP if they want to remain in business selling a manufactured product.

So really, pargamatically speaking there is no such thing as TV as we've known it anymore. TV has become a digital display platform and is now a wide-open frontier that we forecast is well on its way to becoming a huge wide-open marketplace of markets with an even greater impact than the Internet itself has become. Even all the grandmas watch TV! And grandma spends money too. Sorry to pick on grandma because my na-na was one of my closest friends but I think persons reading know what I am saying from a tech point of view.

I have just about worn out one pair of shoes and working on a second meeting and talking with club owners and operators explaining these facts to them; we are in a period of transition all right but it is nightclub, coffee shop and restaurant owners that are now uniquely positioned to generate a lot of revenue which they can begin to do right now.

Why? Because your establishments are where the people are at when they are out-of-home (OOH). These OOH markets are already emerging and paying off as big business under the rubric of "digital signage" and have become the focus of my 25+ years in architecture, IT and software development.

Its now possible to use the HDTV as a cash-flow revenue generator and its now becoming smart to replace once interesting and once useful LED or printed signaged with LCD digital display platforms that enable the displays to operate as cash-flow revenue generators.

Many if not most customers are now carrying little computers in their pockets and purses. They call them "phones." Which of you have integrated your customer support and marketing to enable integration with mobile devices, the web and other digital display platforms? Which have come to understand we can now do so with the HDTV too?

Its a new day and I'm all ears to do business with others in collaboration or to begin discussion with owners and operators who want to generate new lines of revenue while delighting their customers by utilizing HDTV and LCD display platforms to create and operate new and profitable lines of business.
