I've discovered a few of them in the past few weeks, but they're out of my price range. Actually, scratch that -- they're not so much out of my price range as much as I just don't want to spend that much. If I have to, I will...but if I can avoid it, it would help. Anyway... amp was 4000 watt professional grade type thing, mind you I run a small bar/club. Our Wednesday's are more a 'club' night. This amp as stated by the guy who owns the shop I bought it from was like going from a pinto (what I had) to a ferrari...

anyway (again, sorry guys I'm stressed & tired this evening)... midway through the night the music all the sudden shuts down waaaaaaaaaaay low volume, barely audible... the amp was redlining w/barely no volume.

Now my gut is that it overheated... here's the thing though, I asked the guy who owns the shop if I needed to put a fan (as we've done w/the old amp) in the dj booth to put on the amp to keep it cool, etc, etc... he assured me this was not needed as the amp had a fan in it... that being said when the amp did start redlining and we lost volume it WAS blowing hot air out the front of the amp (the fans are in the back and I believe blow through the system).

This amp cost me $379 I believe... imagine a packed club dance night etc. etc... we had NO MUSIC FOR 30 MINUTES! I'm being serious, this was the true nightmare scenario, but actually didn't turn out to be nearly as bad as I imagined.

I had 3 ppl in DJ booth trying to unhook the new amp and just plug the old amp back in to get us through the night. When it was all said and done (and about a half hour later) the new amp was hooked back up and squeked by the rest of the night (although levels seemed messed up)...

Any ideas? Did it overheat? The owner of the shop told me if I ever had any problems he'd be glad to exhange for a new one, and this literally came after LESS THAN 1 DAY OF USE!

Ideas? Comments? Suggestions?
